It all started with the 1923 R32. This is a photo of the very first BMW motorcycle, serial number 1001. Upon completion of manufacture, it was pushed aside and kept by the company. It now resides in the museum in Munich.

The museum is the bowl-shaped building and the famous four-cylinder building is the corporate center, in Munich. The roundel on top of the five-story museum can be seen from airliners at 35,000 feet. Photo taken from the nearby Olympic Tower.
