Ron, Kat & Andy, Frank, Mick, and Dan enjoyed breakfast out followed by a visit to the Transportation Museum. In spite of the rainy ride they had fun.
Email from Brooks:
Hi Folks,
I'm sending this to various people who've expressed an interest in following the cross-country motorcycle trip I'm currently doing. My riding partner, Doug Vittum from Middlesex, is doing a daily blog and is also using a SPOT locator system, which uses a GPS and satellite communications to send out location updates each day.
Doug is much better than I am about taking pictures and observing the scenery as we go along. He also does a good job of documenting our trip, so I'll mostly defer to him on that, rather than duplicate his efforts. Our routine each evening is that he works on the blog, adding pictures and text, while I work on the GPS routes and rollchart route sheets for the next day.
So far, the trip is going well. We had two other people, Jon from South Bristol and Rich from Prattsburgh, accompanying us for the first week or so. Yesterday morning, though, they headed back towards home, since they're both still working. Doug and I are retired.
We're currently sitting in a motel in Bartlesville, OK, watching the rain come down. Up until now, we've had pretty good weather: very hot, but no rain to speak of. Doug and I both feel that getting caught in the rain while riding is no big deal, but we'd rather not start out in the rain, so we may spend an extra day here while the weather system moves through. The bikes could use a bath anyway.
Regards,
Brooks Lyon

This is a popular Rally and a beautiful campgrounds in the Watkins Glen State Park. Lots of fine riding, many things to visit and do in the area (museums, wineries, lakes). 1000-1200 BMW riders attending so lots of M/C chat. Seminars, flea market, vendors, good food and music. A great way to spend the weekend. And -- you can ride the Watkins Glen International Race Track with Country Rode.
Country Rode is planning its 4th annual Watkins Glen Track Charity Tour during the Finger Lakes BMW M/C Rally. We will be limiting the number of bikes to 150 this year. Funds raised will be for Vaughn aka Buford Pembroke who sustained a spinal cord injury in a motorcycle accident in Utah, May 28th. Vaughn is a friend and customer of Country Rode. Tracktime photos will be on hand to take pictures of you riding the track and then be available for purchase. "Come Sept 4th if the sun is shining and you are riding I will be at the top of the Esses clicking away. Looking forward to a perfect day for you to ride." Newlin (Photographer) We will be meeting and signing waivers at Gate 3 this year instead of Gate 2. Continue west on County Rd. 16 past the Main Gate (Gate 2) to Gate 3. Registration starts at 11AM. Country Rode only has use of the track between Noon and 12:30. We are allowed 3 laps which is approximately 10 miles. There is a Public Ferrari event going on at the Track that day and if you wish to watch it, there is a charge and you must go to the Main Gate for that. CRM is one of only 2 motorcycle groups allowed to use the track. As this is a privilege, please be sure to follow the rules which are: Stay behind the Pace Car(which goes plenty fast), No passing in corners, Maintain spacing and NO wheelies.

We at the Wayne County Motorcycle Club want to thank all of the riders that took part in our Spring Adventure Tour back in June. Due to popular demand (and because it's just plain fun for a lot of us...) we're doing it again. We would like to invite everyone to ride our Fall 2010 event that is taking place on Sunday, September 26. We will be based again at the Atlanta-North Cohocton Fire Department (Hatch Hose Company) on University Avenue in Atlanta, NY with another new route. We will be letting riders out earlier in an attempt allow more fellowship time at the conclusion during the end-of-ride meal. Pre-registration is requested if possible to ensure an accurate amount of meals for everyone involved. We certainly hope that you will find it a fun-filled day. Information about the event as well as pre-entry is available on the Website: http://www.waynecountymc.com Hope to see you there.

Adventure & Discovery Around the World

Esses
The Beginning at the End of the Road.
A few years ago Allan decided to pursue his dream to travel around the world and unleash his passions along the way: riding motorcycles, writing and photography. Though his family and friends questioned his sanity, he packed up and sold nearly everything he owned and began a journey that would last 3 years, through 35 countries and across 5 continents - racking up 62,000 miles on a BMW F650 Dakar.
Many people often dream about such a journey, though few pursue it. Fear, uncertainty, doubt and lack of trust usually

stand in the way. Energy, enthusiam and tenacious drive inspired many as they followed his around-the-world odyssey through his blog, podcasts and photo essays online.
In a forthcoming book "From the Boardroom to Bolivia and Beyond" chronicling his three-year odyssey, Allan shares the places and faces he encountered during his journey, including visiting some 43 UNESVO world Heritage Sites. The tales are fun, surprising and entertaining while serving to remind us to take a chance, pursue dreams and to connect with people, build strong relationships - and when we do, see how easy it is to succeed and achieve goals.
We are excited that Allan will come to Country Rode and share his adventures with us.
